The sun did not come out as I expected. It must have been because I put my sun hat in my bag and applied lotion before going out this morning. Despite that, the temperature was around 19C with gusty winds. Enough to blow dry the paint, anyway. It still took 4 hours to complete. So to keep my self from being too idle, I drew a couple pictures while sitting around. All in all, another good day hanging out alone at the beach. Even if the painting didn’t work out, how bad could it be laying on the beach all morning eating ice cream?

The colors you use are very careful and precise. The yellow, brown, and black along with the natural green in the trees are a fantastic mix.

Do you put anything down to preserve whitespace or do you just go for it? Love your work.

Thanks doodlemax. Glad you like the color. Hong Kong always appears to me as being mainly Payne’s Grey and Grey Green with splashes of unusual tertiary colors. Regarding the white space: I don’t use any masking, but am very aware of this negative space as I apply the paint.
