Wednesday is free day at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. I brought some handmade watercolor paper with me and had planned on doing a painting from the causeway. But today was much like yesterday and big black clouds kept rolling through, dumping a weeks worth of rain for several minutes, then disappearing as fast as it came. The air was saturated and muggy and there wasn’t a chance the paint would dry. Instead I headed for Kowloon Mosque to draw. I have always wanted to draw here but it’s very difficult to find a location that you can sit in the shade and still see. This spot was the best I could do. I had to stand, but at least it was shady.
Several people who work in the area came over to watch and mentioned that I’m not the first foreigner to draw the mosque from here. Somewhere around is an elderly Englishman doing pastels. I’ll have to keep an eye out.
