dragonboats-in-stanley

I didn’t realize how tired I would be after working all day yesterday and just couldn’t bring myself to spend another hour out on the street drawing. Instead, I got up early this Saturday and headed for Stanley Beach to draw boats.

It was very windy today and all the wind surfers were out. It was windy enough that they were having trouble rigging their boards on the beach. The guys who made it out looked to be going fast enough for it to be dangerous. So, good day for them. (trivia fact: Hong Kong’s only Olympic Gold was in windsurfing in 1996 by Lee Lai Shan) It was so windy I had to use several clips to hold my paper down. This drawing is of a storage rack of dragon boats beside the Hong Kong Sea School. The dragon heads have been removed so the bow of the boats look like they have been cut off. Very scenic. I’ll have to come back soon with snacks so I can stay longer.

I love the interesting forms created in the cluster of boats! I can’t wait to be doing the same thing, soon I’ll be down in Key West trying to take in the same things! Nice work. 🙂
