Today was hot and humid and my main criteria for drawing was finding a place in the shade. I was wandering up the escalator in Mid-Levels when I found this spot on the pedestrian bridge to sit. The escalator runs from sea level to about halfway up the mountain between Sheung Wan and Central. It’s a great way to move around. In the morning the escalator moves down, and then up in the afternoon to accommodate commuter pedestrians. Gage Street is just down from Hollywood Road and near most of the art galleries in Hong Kong. There is lots of Western food here if you like spending tons of money for a hamburger. I’m going to finish this drawing and head back to Shau Kei Wan and pay local prices for good Shanghai food.
Oh, and special thanks to the security guard in the escalator for not running me off and allowing me to finish the drawing. I’m not breaking any rules by drawing here, but we all fear what we don’t understand and I’m not out to cause heart ache. So thanks again. Peace.
