Today was a good day for painting and drawing. Beautiful dry weather, just cool enough for me to wear a long sleeve shirt. I caught the school bus out of the village to Shau Kei Wan and headed straight to the water front. Shau Kei Wan has a large promenade along the bay and at one end is the wholesale fish market and dry docks. The first drawing was done from the market looking across to the docks. The second drawing was done inside a dry dock warehouse. It took a minute of gesturing and fumbling through my limited Cantonese to convince the owner to let me in to draw. I was actually a bit nervous doing this drawing because of the welding and metal work being done around me. At least I had enough sense not to pet the big dog chained to the floor. The painting was done back near the bus stop at the tram terminus.

I met several people and had a good time discussing art with a retired draftsman. Looked around for a tip hat, but still no luck. Maybe I should just stick to a coffee can. It would have a nice clanking sound as the money rolled in 😉
